Integrazionemigranti.gov.it, the government’s new website aimed at facilitating integration of immigrants in Italy has been launched.
The website is meant to provide orientation to immigrants, firms, families and those working with immigrants. It is a gateway to more than 8,000 local services offered to foreign nationals living in the country. www.integrazionemigranti.gov.it is constantly updated and is easily accessible to all.The new site was developed by the Ministry of Labour and Social policy, in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Education, University and Research and the Ministry of International Cooperation and Integration, with the support of Italia Lavoro.
The database was created by involving Regional and local authorities, as well as civil society organizations working with immigrants. About 600 such organizations were involved.
The services are grouped into sections taking into consideration the main aspects of the National Integration Policy. There are the following categories: Learning of Italian language; Employment; Housing and local government; Access to essential services; Minors and second-generation immigrants.
There is also a section dedicated to intercultural mediation which in away, covers all the other sections.
The content of the website is further grouped into specific categories for different target audiences. For instance, there are sections for foreign citizens and for employers.
Information is also classified into regions in order to make it easier for the users to look for relevant information in their local areas.
For instance, it is easy to find out where there are Italian language courses in Rome, or which offices to go to in Milan for help if you’d like to establish a business. There are also detailed contacts of the relevant offices.
www.integrazionemigranti.gov.it has a section for news, providing latest news on immigration.
A special section is dedicated to national, regional and EU immigration laws.
Important legal guides in different languages can also be found on the website including “The Manual for Integration” published by the Ministry of Labour, “Guide against workplace accidents” by Inail, or “InformaSalute” brochures on foreign citizens’ access to the National Health Scheme.
For those who are computer illiterate, there is a call centre with operators providing help for free. The call centre is managed by Formez. The operators of “Linea Amica Immigrazione” answer calls in Italian, English, French and Spanish.
The number to dial is 803001 from landline and 828881 from a mobile phone. Operators help the clients in navigating the site to find the necessary information. They also collect suggestions for improvement.
